Looks like some new notebooks will be released by HP soon. I found some evidence that HP is going to release the dv3 and dv6 notebook series at their Ecuador website. Based on some of the model numbers, these will be out in the US!

That is extremely fascinating. However, what is the purpose of having 13inch, 14inch, 15inch, 16inch, 17inch, and 18inch notebook sizes? I guess each inch really makes a difference lol

Yes, I think HP is releasing different sizes as well as different models in order to tailor to those who really want a specific screen size (and overall size too). Compare to the Compaq CQ20, CQ40, CQ45, CQ50, CQ60, CQ70, as well as the HP G50, G60, and G70 notebook series.

From the specs, the dv3 sounds very similar to the dv3500 already in stores, except its black/silver instead of bronze.

HP is going to have to be very careful in the options they use for each notebook, otherwise you'll have notebooks with very similar (if not identical) specs cannibalizing each other based on price.

Not all of the sizes will continue to be offered, expect the dv5 and dv4 to be eliminated w/in a year.

That's one idea I was going to suggest......but as we don't yet know a whole lot about either series, I didn't think it had any merit. If it's true though, I'm thinking that perhaps the dv7 will get the ax at around the same time and the dv6 will replace both the 5 and 7 series' there.

I'm kinda wondering though about how big a price hike we can expect...... :confused2:

yes this seems to be the case someone stated that the DV6 full replaces the DV5.....interesting.....why do you need two 16" notebooks again? I guess the hdx16 is a bit too expensive for peopl

Also engadget shows a 9200gs for the 16" are you serious?

If the the 6 will be replace the 5 series, then it'd only stand to reason that they'd carry over many of the same options (or introduce better ones)--lest they loose customers.

you have any links to support this claim? I think dv5 got the most balance of both performance and mobillity. it is more like a standard. any size less than dv5 would sacrifice performance for better mobility. any sizes more than dv5t would gain performance but less mobile.

look at the dv5t thread, it got the most post and show how popular it is. I think 15" is the core product for any laptop manufacturer. other size is just a extra revenue.

so I don't think 15" will be dropped, if not ever. unless there is a trend that desktop become less favored and big size desktop-replacement laptop then become the main stream.
