    Hi all,

My sister got an HP dv3z and wanted some help setting it up, so I got to borrow it for a day while I set it up for her. Of course, that meant trying to get some 3d benchmarks out of it ;)

I couldn't get 3dmark06 to run. It seemed to just hang at the splash screen. Let it run overnight to see if it would ever get past--nope.

For what it's worth though, I installed Red Alert 3 and Command & Conquer Zero Hour with satisfying results:
    - Zero Hour ran smoothly at maximum res (1280x800) and max detail settings.
    - Red Alert 3 ran smoothyl at max res (1280x800) with tweaked medium detail settings: I turned down the pixel shader options like shadows and visual effects.

So overall, you can play games on a dv3, just don't assume it'll handle all the dials turned up.

Here are the specs that I remember:
    • AMD Turion(TM) X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor ZM-80 (2.1 GHz)--cheapeast CPU with 2MB of L2 cache, the most you can get in this latpop.
    • 2GB RAM
    • 160 GB HDD
    • ATI Radeon 3200 HD

I set the GPU to max performance in the Catalyst Control Panel.

I wanted to share these results from my informal testing just in case anyone else was curious about the dv3's gaming capabilities like I was.
