My touchpad seems to click on stuff at random when I don't tell it to, and my touch-sensitive volume control at the top goes haywire sometimes and moves by itself. Is anyone else having this problem, and what can I do about it?

Yes! I bought mine mid Dec this year. It is very different than my former HP which was a 6000 series. The former laptop also does this so I have gotten used to keeping my thumbs and sleeves away from the touch pad. As for the volume control, I find it very hard to adjust. It takes two or three touches, sometimes more to adjust either direction. I wish I had a solution, but for now I just deal with it. I am considering taking it back today because of the slow start-up and changing form one window to the next. Do you have this problem? I thought with the large memory and the 2GHz of processor speed it would be much faster. My older laptop has half the RAM and 1.667 GHz and is twice as fast. I don't get it! If you get this today would appreciate the feedback. rfelts

Me too , I bought mine may be ten days ago .... and the same problem with the quick touch keys , I hope there's a software update from HP that can solve the problem , the reason I think it's a software issue cuz sometimes they seem to work fine , but! other times they go autopilot "LOL" and I don't know what hit'em.

Try here instead. That is the link for your particular model however it should(will) still download the same file. If it doesn't work then perhaps you are running under windows XP and the update doesn't like that or perhaps you need to upgrade your bios first. With any AMD based dv5 you need to have bios version F.23 or higher in order for this update to be installed I don't know about Intel versions.

I had serious touch pad problems on my HP Pavilion DV2000 laptop. Then I pulled out the AC adapter and the mouse became stable again. So maybe the problem could be hardware related (voltage supply, temperature, etc.) ?
