    Hi,

Does anyone have this model or something similiar and what they think of it?? It has 15.4 screen and the is
CPU : AMD Turion 64 Mobile prosessor ML-32, with 1024 MB DDR 333 Mhz and 80 GB EIDE-harddisk.

Would this be a suitable notebook for watching DVDs, and light gaming...(like old-school Mame games)? It's between this and the Acer Aspire 1942. As you can prolly tell, I'm a newbie...

    Thanks,

    ME :)

The acer it I'm not wrong comes wit ATI x700 right? If yes it will be much much better in gaming. If you only consider light gaming, however, dv5000z will do fine.
Watching DVDs, office work, presentations - I would go with HP because I know it, I've seen it. Acer Aspire are considered to have better build quality but HP is no way with poor quality.

Does it have the glossy screen? If not, you may want to consider one with the BrightView screen. The matte screen on the dv5000 is a bit washed out for DVD viewing.

Thank you so much for answering!! The acer model has 15.4" TFT active matrix WXGA (1280 x 800) - 24-bit (16,7 millioner colours) Crystal bright (which is the same sort of brightview feature I gather).
Graphic controller is an Intel GMA 900. Is that ok or is the HP one (ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 ) better?

    Me :)

ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 is 2-3 times better than Intel GMA 900, and supports Vista( as per ATI).

And as per playing DVD, I think dv5054 is better choice, because, it is proven that Turion takes less battery for Playing DVD than P-M.

Last weekend night I was watching lenghty movie on my V2000z at 2nd lowest brightness, It lasted whole movie for 2:40min with wireless off. ( for typical browsing it lasts about 2:50 min). I could not believe myself.
