I ran the monthly update of my computer that HP sends every month and when it came time to do the diagnostics my harddrive failed the test. I went to the BIOS to have it do a more complete check it also failed pretty quickly, it said something about 1-#7 fail. I know that according to these things something is wrong with my harddrive but I can't figure out what. My computer still works just fine, I can use it and save things onto it normally. Is there really something wrong with my harddrive or could it be something else?

Just for more info I am running Windows XP

Could be a false positive. The BIOS diagnostic test isnt that great.

Download HDTune and check for your SMART health. If any of them are failing you will know.

Also do a full scan of your HD
