I found a way to control the fan. Or at least to switch to lowest rpm mode. The temps are lower now and the fan isn't loud any more.
1. First download http://rweverything.myweb.hinet.net/bin/RwPortableV1.5.7z and extract to C:\RwPortableV1.5
2. Copy all files from .zip file (see attachment) to this folder!
3. Create a task with to following path: "C:\RwPortableV1.5\rw.exe /Command=C:\RwPortableV1.5\fan.rw"
That's it! Now the fan is on low rpm!
Tips:
Switch Cooling to "Active" in energy saving options!
Deactivate "Fan always on" in BIOS!
Use Intel Graphicscard instead of ATI as the notebook stays cooler with Intel.
Limit cpu frequency in energy saving options!

why not just use Coolsense?
and I can't "use the Intel graphics card instead of the ATI" as I can't run the s/w I want on the Intel card... -
This series weren't issued at the time. the 3000 are 9 months, the 4000 are 3 months older than your 6000 series.

And using the Intel card is just a recommendation for less heat. It works with ATI graphics card too! -
Hi,
First of all I would like to thank for this useful topic. That it even exitsts.
It helped me a lot. I got dv6-3019wm and it works.
I would like to ask. Where I could find some specifications or documents about what variables from Embendded Controler refers to.
I mean how did you know that offset 176 belongs to value that need to be set to reduce fans speed?
I would like to find (using specifications) the place where I can turn off the fan and to write a script that will turn it on when temperature will exceed 80 celsium degree. -
I have seen a fan mod for an acer notebook and I just adopted it for our notebook. The offset was different but I found out by trying.
Unfortunately there is no official document for the Embedded Controller. I thought about that too. -
How exactly do I create a task with that file?

Awsome, how did u know it was 0xB0 that had to change?
Im acctually trying to do the oposite. When I play some games or some times try out google earth my computer just totaly shut down.
So I figured Increase the fan to max an lower the cpu load max to 80% would do it. And I found that editing row B0 column 01 to value 40 or above would increase the speed. But still this happen. I wonder if it has to do with som built-in protection of the Voltage Regulator.
Next thing I want to try is to remove or higher the temperature of auto shutdown. Do anyone know how to do that? Example: set the cpu to 110 degrees C before shut down? I know the risks involed by doing this. -
This was an absolute life saver!! I could not find a solution anywhere. I was going to rip my fan out and beat it with a bat while burning it during some wild full moon ritual. Worked perfect for my hp dv7-3065dx
Thanks again !
