In search of an unbiased review of PC Mag's Editors Choice HP dv6-6013cl (only) sold at Costco for $599. No longer listed on the Costco site so I cannot provide a link.

    Intel second-generation Core processor - dual-core 2.10GHz Intel Core i3-2310M
    500GB 5,400rpm hard drive

I am deciding between the the above and the HP Pavilion G6-1A69. My needs are basic (internet, office, and i-tunes).

    Thanks so much!

I think that HP Pavilion G6-1a69 is better. It is a little faster, so you wouldn't have to perform a clean-up so often. And I think that it's battery also has a longer life time.

Here's a link to the refurb HP dv6
Costco - Refurbished HP dv6-6013cl Laptop Core? i3-2310M 2.1GHz Beats? Audio

I would think the 2nd gen processor on the dv6 is faster. According to the benchmarks on PassMark - CPU Benchmarks - List of Benchmarked CPUs, the i3-380M got 2337 while the i3-2310M got 2651. I am not sure how that translates into real time performance though. I think the graphics would be better on the 2nd gen too.
