Did you try installing the webcam driver posted in the Vista drivers stickied thread? It's possible you have a different model webcam than that one, but I haven't heard of any dv6000 users having a different camera.

I am having the same issue. I've installed the Webcam driver from the stickied thread. It does not recongize the driver for the webcam, and when manually instaling it with the "Have Disk..." route, it installs. But the error:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

...shows up in the device manager. From what I can tell it's a Chicony camera. I'm running a DV6058CL (AMD Turion X2 ). I am wondering if it's indeed a diffrent model than the one in the thread.

Then you must have a different model of webcam. There is no other driver available at this time. Going by what I've found out from HP today, you may never get one. Welcome to HP customer service.

Actually, the problem is that Vista does not have drivers to support the webcam. I have the same problem and got a hold of HP. They said it will be 1-3mths before they are available. They said just to keep going to HP website and look for updates periodically and sign-up for notification. So, it is not anything you are doing it is their fault.

I just used the webcam on our DV6000 a few days ago (with Vista). It worked shockingly well with absolutely no issues

I had the same problem but i think i know what it is now its the quickplay that starts up with windows and also vista doesn't seem to like the drivers. So all you really need to do is make sure u have the hp drivers installed and not the vista updates ones you can get the drivers from the hp website and the other thing to do is to go into the msconfig and stop HP Quickplay from starting up. The buttons at the top will still work (volume etc...) inculding the quickplay button but it just takes that little bit longer to load hope this helped if any problems contact me and i'll try my best to help but can't promise anything lol. Have a good one and hope u get ur webcams working :)
