    out of warranty

problems: no wireless, hard time starting up, sound crashes, system freezes when updating things(can only use for 30min before it crashes), can only start it when it's cooled off, usually just restarts itself when the hd light doesn't come on(you know[power][charging][reading hd])

The no wireless and sound crashes were my first problems, then the system melted down. I bought it used off craigslist Christmas 2008 and any warranty time was long gone when it crashed Halloween 2009.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I think you know it already - failed nvidia chip. There's the proper way (replacing the motherboard), the cheaper way (sending it in for reflow), and the ghetto way (cooking it yourself). Which do you choose?

You make sound so like a game show. Door number 3 seems mighty tempting

1 is beyond my budget, 2 is beyond my door, and 3 is beyond my attention span. Guess I'm stuck.
