    Hi

I've just installed Fedora 8 on my HP Pavilion dv6137tx notebook and I've noticed that the webcam is getting warm even though its not in use. I made a similar observation with Fedora 7 and Mandriva Linux 2008, so I think its drawing power even though its not ON (the light isn't turning blue). Whats the reason for this?

    Should I be concerned?

    Thanks

    Cheers
    Vivek

are you sure its not the LCD? webcam itself is quite small to produce that much heat

The region that is warm is the region where the webcamera is. The rest of the screen isn't getting warm.

What about power management in Fedora 8? Do I have to do something about it (like changing the default settings) or do I let it be as such?

Try disabling the webcam in your Device Manager. See if it still warms up
