Hello, I have just bought HP Pavilion dv6235. It came with Windows Vista installed, but I dumped it and installed Windows XP Professional.

Now, I have problem finding drivers. I do not see any drivers for XP for this model at HP website. Is it ok to install drivers for dv6000 instead? Or, is there any way to find each driver that suits to this specific model?

Also, when I go to Device Manager, I see three of the drivers not installed has just a name "Base System Device". Could anyone tell me how do I identify each devices? ::confused:

Could you please post any information that is related to my problem.
    Any advice will help.

    Thank you. :)

Search for XP drivers for a dv6000t CTO. Those are the drivers you need. I can't believe they're shipping Vista systems without full drivers -- base system devices can be a lot of things, but I'm guessing those are the MS, XD, and MMC card readers. If you were sticking with Vista, I'd say go to the stickied driver thread and grab the driver for that.

Thank you for posting the comment. Actually, I've already looked at the page and checked the link for Windows XP ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3353392&lang=en). However, I did not find all the drivers I need to install, so I posted this thread.

What I see, when I open Device Manager is listed below.
Under "Other Device", all of the following has yellow question marks which indicates that the drivers are missing.

    1. Audio device on high definition audio bus
    2. Base system device
    3. Base system device
    4. Base system device
    5. Ethernet controller
    6. Unknown device

I really need to install XP instead of Vista, so need these drivers to be installed....

If you have any idea...??? I am totally lost now.

    Thanks

    Hello, everybody
I have just installed Windows XP in my note book Pavilion dv5000 CTO. Unfortunately, I did not backup " SWsetup" before I format hard driver. Right now, I can not find Quickplayer and DVD decoder driver. So I cannot play any DVD or Cds. Is there any solution besides recovery to original OS with recovery cds? Thanks!
