I am new to this forum and would like to request help with an issue that I am currently having with my HP Pavilion dv6700. I acquired this laptop from a friend when the hard drive went bad. She did not create recovery disks for the notebook so I had to order the recovery disks from Computer Surgeons as HP no longer carries the disks. When attempting to install the recovery disks, it loads to 23% and I receive the following error code: 0x4001100200001005. After multiple attempts and receiving the same error, I researched the error and found that a scratch in the disk could cause the error. I have since replaced the disk set 3 times and each time, the installation process stalls at 23% and I receive the same error code. I want to restore the system to its original state but I am becoming more and more frustrated with this process. Could anyone help me figure this issue out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Below are the specifics of the system.
HP Pavilion dv6700 P/N: KC304UA#ABA
OS: Vista Home Edition
Original HDD Replaced with 640 gig
Please let me know if you need any further info.
