Hello everyone! not so long ago I bought a new notebook, Pavilion dv7-2250. everything is working quite well. new games work on medium settings, 3d rendering software also works quite well ... Here's specifications:

    CPU: Intel Core2Duo t6600 @ 2,2 GHz 2MB L2
    GPU: ATI radeon hd4650 1GB DDR3
    RAM: 4GB DDR3 (2x2GB)
    17.3" LED screen, 1600x900
    HDD: 640GB (2x320gb) @ 7200rpm
    BIOS: InsydeH2O, version F41

    ok, my questions are:
    1. Can i install some better CPU in this laptop and how will it affect on cooling since hp usually has bad cooling system in notebooks?
    2. Is the graphics card inside dv7's on the MXM slot or it is soldered on board, and if it is MXM can it be switched with better one? also, how will that affect on cooling?
    3. how can i improve the cooling of this laptop, i already undervolted its cpu, bought the cooling stand.. which thermal paste should i use? will the copper mod help?
and last one, 4. can i add some system memory to the graphics card? yea, i know, 1gb is a lot but, just asking...

    that would be all, TIA

    1. Don't know
    2. Not MXM, you can't replace it. That is btw the best GPU of that DV7 series. The new series are not much better. Just a small evolution.
3.Not much more than what you already did. Don't forget to clean it often. I can't advise thermal paste since i don't have experience.
    4. Can't add memory to Graphic cards. It is soldered on.

I believe he is asking if you can relegate more system ram to the gpu, but I think it is dynamically handled by Windows on an as-needed basis.

You are probably right R4000. Yes it is handled by windows, also it is a slow memory.
