I'm trying to find a work-around to get my HP Pavilion dv7-6165us to have fixed graphics.
As I have an AMD processor, HP's BIOS won't do the trick... therefore I'm considering different options...
I found this post http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...unlock-fixed-dynamic-switchable-graphics.html for dv6z.61XX laptops, which use the same BIOS as mine (I think)... Can anyone with a dv7-61XX suggest me something?
    Should I try and see?

You can try but success rate to save the setting is very very low.. if you cannot boot up after saving BIOS setting, clear the CMOS by removing CMOS battery.
Also, you can flash back to HP original BIOS anytime.

The setting does save, but before that, why you need fixed graphic is the question here. OpenGL run on dedicated on any driver 12.7b+

the unlocked bios semi-brick more base on my experiences.

    What does this imply?

And to answer why I need to set the fixed graphics... I have a game (GTA IV) set in "high performance" though I'm quite sure it's not working with the dedicated graphics always..
    why?
When I set it in low graphics it goes at about 24 fps (getting freezed some times)... but when I set the graphics to high the fps jump to 29 without freezing that much...
Because of that I'm guessing the dedicated graphics is only working in high settings, but that's annoying because I can't play that way... but when I lower the settings it actually goes slower, because is switching to my integrated card...

Therefore I want to set the fixed graphics just to see if that can fix my problem . . .

So, for the answers I'm guessing my only options is try and see... And noone's ever tried before...

No-one tried this then? Well... I think I'm going to wait for some other brave dude to go... or some tested solution.

I'm not even in the USA therefore if I screw up something I'm pretty much ed.
