Hi, i'm from Poland so at the beginning i'm sorry for my english. I have a problem with my HP Pavilion dv8000t. Two days ago my notebook stopped working. After reboot on the start hp screen i saw some green stripes and my windows ( xp media center edition) didn't start. There was a blue screen with information about an error with nv4_mini.sys file. I tried to restore windows with a recovery discs but it didn't help. So i tried to install another operating system (win xp professional with service pack 2). It was succed but this windows doesn't have driver for my graphics card. I tried to install some drivers (for example from hp site) but every time at the end of instalation there appear a black screen with green stripes and my notebook is rebooting.
Maybe someone knows what should i do. I bought this notebook in USA last year. I hope that is a problem only with soft not with a hardware. Please help

****! I have the same laptop and the same problem! Well, sort of. But just a couple of days ago my laptop kept randomly restarting. Sometimes theres a blue screen, sometimes theres not. About 1/2 the time it restarts right before the logon screen, the other half during random times I'm using the laptop. I took a look at the minidumps and about 9/10 of the times it's nv4_mini.sys causing the issue. I installed the 163.44 drivers like a month ago and my laptop has been fine up until now. I don't know what gives. I've rolled back a driver version but that didn't change anything. I noticed that my computer has never restarted when in safe mode. At any rate I'm gonna try a repair install of XP and I'll let you know how things turn out.

Well, it hasn't happened for a while...but it's probably going to happen again eventually.

Hey Pablo...ever get this fixed? I haven't. When I get some time I need to do a repair install of windows...
-
OK, I tried a repair install and no dice. Computer still spontaneously restarts. Gonna format in a couple of hours...
-
OK, a format didn't work either.
This is bad!

OK, last update, I ended up sending my laptop back to HP. Appears to be something wrong on the hardware side. If this happens to you...I'm so sorry.
