i just bought this from tigerdirect-rufurbished

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...5957&GSESID=op3r0u45non51cyhtb22em3t&GSCID=10

i sort of wanted a 17 inch..because when i had my 15.4 inch dell, i thought,,gee, i wish the screen was a bit bigger...another thing i hated about my last tow 15.4 inch notebooks- why the 1280 x 800 screens...not sure why the manufacturers are trying to stuff that resolution down our throats..but i hate it..;.

believe the hp dv9339us has 1440 x 900...will be able to live a bit better with that,,,,

did not want to spend over $700...so this notebook came in my price range...

the 7600gt is now slouch, and going to slap a ti8300 in it later, if i can find directions on how to do this/

If you mean a C2D T8300, it is Socket P. The T5500 is Socket M.

Check out the CPU Guide here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=166906

Correct. Your notebook uses the older Intel 945 chipset, which is Socket M.

I would not recommend doing this during the warranty period because once you do, the warranty is nullified. HP does not consider the cpu as "user-replaceable" like ram & hard drives.

At any rate, here is your Maintenance & Service Guide http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01311536.pdf
