My friend gave me her old Pavilion n5150, but there are a couple of minor (??) quirks with it. The LCD screen has slid slightly, but that's not big on my list of fixes. The keyboard is not functioning properly. The A, S, D, F, J, K, L, and : keys won't work. Is this something a laptop novice like me can fix? I've tried searching this forum & the internet for help with fixes, but can't seem to find anything specifically related to the n5150. Any information would be helpful. This is my first laptop, and I really want to start using it!

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Sharon

hmm no you would probably need to open the laptop up, fix or replace the items and this is something a technician should do really.

if u have USB then use an external keyboard, if u have a monitor out socket, get an external monitor.

if u open it and you arent tech savvy, then you will probably kill it

Thanks for the advise. I went back and found instructions for fixing a keyboard on a website. I lucked out, and fixed the problem!
