The HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement (can be viewed here) states that a person who owns a dv2200t whose monitor won't display anything is eligible for the limited warranty. However, you must have the same product number. If I have the same model number and same issue, why should it matter if I don't have the same product number? What decides a product number? The combination of parts within? I do not meet any of the product numbers eligible for the limited extended warranty.

In November 2007, my notebook would start up with one long beep and two short ones and nothing on the LCD screen. HP fixed it under warranty, and now that my warranty is up, 6 months later, the same thing is occuring. This limited extended warranty stating the same issue that I had before and now, leads me to believe HP is now aware of this boo-boo and are willing to fix it. But if this is happening to me twice in 6 months, why not *my* product number?

I contacted HP technical support and the woman said she talked to some supervisor or something and they'll get back to me if enough people with my same product number call in with the same issue. That's bull! I shouldn't have to wait until others, with the same components of my notebook, call in with the same complaint. And I'm not paying $500 for a new motherboard or video card, when a new notebook is about $500 to start with.

I also contacted them by e-mail about a week ago and even though they said I should get a response soon, I never did. Can anyone suggest anything? Will HP listen to me if I bug them enough or get in touch with a case manager?

    Thank you!

Yes the product number is like the combination of parts installed.

You should get in touch with a case manager asap. Since your out of warranty, i dont think they will take your seriously or put you in priority.

Theyll put you in the system. The system sucks.

I read in another thread from earlier this year that HP is replacing motherboards for free after the warranty is up on dv2200 notebooks.

Will straight up asking for a case manager help me, or will they need a good enough reason? The last time I had issues, they said they'd have a case manager call me (I didn't ask for one). But after 3 seperate times of them saying "they'll call you within 48 hours" and then "within 24 hours", I finally got mad and decided to wait 50 minutes on the phone to actually get connected to a case manager.
