remove the battery, plug the laptop to the wall, try it back.

try removing battery and ac adapter and then holding down the power button for about 30 seconds or so, and then trying to plug it in again to turn it on. Not sure about the dv5000 series but on the newer ones they have the little ring of light around the ac pin. If you have that is is coming on?

If your sure that the battery or adapter is good and you did a power discharge as caveman advised then its a bad board/dcin connector.

I was reading the HP manual the other day and noticed under the "Warning: To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to your equipment, observe thes practices:" section that it said " Disconnect power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet (not by unplugging the power cord from the computer)".

This is what is probably killing the boards. I need to stop doing this myself [IMG]
