If it is only the printer that is requesting an Admin password... and you do not get the Admin request for any other functions (change system setting, uninstall/install software...etc.) then uninstall the printer (including the print driver if it asks you during the process). ReBOOT.... then reinstall the Printer.

The password could be blank....admin... or whatever. During the reinstall process, ignore the Password security request. Hope that helps!

    Best, Dave

thanks Dave,i did not explain very well,it seems that any change is involved, a backup and reset to factory status has been suggested???i did look at system settings(bewildering) schedule tasks and all that##!i had an IT bloke look at previous problems,he took it back to an earlier date, saying there would be some loss of data?? since then,well.......................thos

thos ? ..... sorry but I missed that one along the way I guess (snicker). If your IT bloke took it back to a prior date and that worked then that would mean that someone went into Control Panel>User Accounts... and input a password thereby locking you out from making any changes to the system. Not so good.....unless that someone was accidentally you. Ooops.

    If that didn't work, then:
    (1) If you have access to a Windows installation/recovery disk try the process listed here.
    (2) Look around for a Windows Password recovery tool. There are some out there that work. Just be careful that you are not loading malware ( which since your system is locked, may not work anyway).
    (3) Backup all your data (pic, video, music,Docs, etc...), confirm you can reinstall any programs that you've added since new and, as suggested, re-start the system as new (if the system will allow it without a password).

    Can you say Catch 22?

Hope that helps and you get this sorted out.

    Best, Dave
