    HP Pavillion - goes in sleep mode

    i use HP Pavilion Entertainment laptop....
    while working it goes on sleep mode automatically...
    i hv chked d timer n other details....
    wot cud b the prob?
    pls help

    Sleep mode (suspend to RAM) or Hibernate mode (suspend to HD)? If it's the latter, I'd suspect that the CPU is overheating and forcing shutdown. An improperly mounted heatsink will cause this.

    Use HWMonitor from cpuid.com to monitor your temps.

    i thk it is d case of over heating...so wot cn b the solution for it if it is coz of over heating?

    If those are idle temps, you definitely have a heat problem. It wouldn't take much to push the CPU to the magic 100C point where shutdown is forced. The easiest thing to start with would be to blow out the heatsink with canned air (careful, cooling fans don't like being spun real fast). I suspect that your notebook needs to be taken apart and its heatsink cleaned and properly mounted but maybe you'll get lucky. You'll need Arcticlean and Arctic Silver 5 if you remount the heatsink.
