Okay.. so right now with the 33% off coupon you can get a 3rd gen ivy bridge intel 3720 with the 2GB nvidia 650M card for a little over $1100 on the 17 inch model...

Ummm.. any responses as to why this isn't an amazing purchase?

Price/performance i agree. Tthat's why i finally got one! Actually got the SB first then the moment i got it, the Ivy comes out for about the same price, called HP and told me i can do a return/exchange! Told them i don't want to wait again and they got me a 2 day free shipping. Comparing the 6 series to the 7, the 6 feels plasticy and the 7 (ivy version) is built a lot better.

That's a pretty average price. You could get a 17" sager with the same specs for around the same price too.

Sager NP6175 / Clevo W170ER ($989 from a reputable reseller): i7-3610QM, 1080 Glare-type FHD screen, NVIDIA 650M 1GB, no backlit keyboard, 500 GB 7200rpm, DVD burner, no OS, stock paste, 2 USB 3.0 ports (rather than 3 for HP) and 1 USB 2.0 port.

I'm sorry but you get more bang for the buck with this d7+HP coupon.

True. I got blu-ray, backlit keyboard, 1TB HDD, caching mSATA drive, Windows, and better speakers than the Sager for about the same cost as a Sager would have been.
