My touchpad isn't working most of the time. It just stopped suddenly. I know it's not the disable button because the light is blue. It sort of works, in that when I try to use it, the mouse moves, but I cannot control where the mouse goes. It will move randomly around the screen.

If I turn the computer off (not sleep) and let it sit for a while, the touchpad will work when I turn it back on. If I let it go into sleep mode, when I wake it up the touchpad will not work. I have to shut it down and wait again. I thought it might be the heat, but the computer cools down completely in sleep mode and the touchpad still doesn't work properly on wake up.

The computer is still under warranty but I don't want to lose the computer for 2 weeks if it is something simple to fix. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's the cable, i've had it too on my DV5. If you don't want to lose the warranty then send it in. I had no warranty to begin with so i replaced it myself, but this option may not be for everybody.
