    Hello!

I'm having a very big problem with my laptop. It has Windows Vista on it (it's about a year and a half old) and two days ago, the sound stopped working on my computer....atleast at the start, most of it. At first the Internet Explorer didn't have any audio (No media had sound) but if I got on AIM or the control panel there was audio. I restored my computer and when it started back up I didn't have any sound at all. I've tried everything. I tried downloading the audio driver and it says that my computer couldn't detect the "MEDIA" of the driver and won't install the driver. It has worked great and I haven't had a problem up until this.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've checked the speakers and sound and the computer says everything is working (even the speakers!) but there is now sound. I also tried using earphones and there was still no audio. I'm about to try last resort and do a system recovery and start back from the beginning, unless anyone has an idea.

I really want my sound back! Please helpp!!!!

Check your Device Manager under Sound controllers to see if your audio card shows up.

Go to the Sound manager does your sound card show up under Playback? If so right click and make sure it is Set as Default Device. Right click again and click Test.

Also which audio driver are you trying to install?

If you have windows update on automatic, it sometimes downloads and installs the WRONG driver causing it to work improperly.
