I have an HP Pavillion DV9000 bought in early 2007 (running WinXP), and a while ago the HP Ricoh 5 in 1 Card Reader just stopped working.

It seems to randomly either tell me "Please insert a disk into drive __", or tells me that the drive needs to be formatted. I tried formatting it, and nothing changed. Strangely, it DOES seem to recognize it as an XD card because it says "xD-Picture card" and shows the xd card icon. Not only that, but the reader does still seem to work with other card types. The same card also works fine in my wife's hp pavillion dv6500.

I know people will inevitably tell me to disable/enable device, resinstall drivers etc- but to be clear these were the first things I tried, and I have tried pretty much every variation of the driver I can find. Unless there is some special driver that was released recently, you name it- I've most likely tried it.

I am more wondering if this is a known issue anyone else has run into, and if so what the fix is.

    Thanks
