I am currently looking to buy a new laptop. I am looking into, surprising for me, a pre-built HP 9750. 2.0Ghz, 3Gb DDR2, 500GB 5400prm, Gefore 8600M GS, Blu-ray DVD, 1440-900 res. Does anyone have any knowledge on this laptop..it seems like a good buy.

Typos error there kevben23. The title states dv7950 instead of 9750. For a second I thought that HP has launched a new dv7xxx series! :)

EDIT:- What is the price that you are getting?

That seems to be a fair price. A few more questions

    1. What is the hard disk space?
    2. What is the amount of Visual RAM?
    3. Where are you going to buy it i.e directly from HP or is it pre configured?

Just to add on Blu Ray is a good choice. It has recently defeated HD DVD so upgrading to it will indeed be a good choice.

    visual RAM is 3GB
And its a pre configured laptop from circuit city or buy.com

Double check the Notebook deals section for a HP online coupon code, you'll probably get a better deal if you order a custom laptop from HP's website. I think they have a $400.00 off coupon active right now (but use it quick before it expires!).

It depends if you are fine with buying a laptop online. If you are try configuring a laptop online and find out the price. Just to add on your V RAM cannot be 3GB. That is your RAM. Visual RAM is the one that is associated with your Graphics Card 8600 GS!

What kinds of task are you going to do with you laptop?

Also fill out the FAQ so that we can help you better.

BTW, a 256mb 8600m GT will give you better gaming performace then a 512mb 8600m GS.

Just so you know KevBen, the 8600GT isn't available in the HP series. The only computers that have better video cards are the HDX and business line laptops of HP. If you wanted the 8600GT or a better video card on a personal line laptop, you would have to go through a different manufacturer.

It's called Video ram (VRAM), not visual. You confused the poor guy.

I know that...It was a reply to the how much video ram question since people nauturally think higher amounts of Vram=better performace in games.

For 1450, you can probably get a HP 8510p(15.4 w/HD 2600) for a online store/retailer which would be better built and have better gaming performace(according to the GPU guide) and would be a better notebook to travel with(not ideal though).

But the HP 9750us(I fixed the tile as well) is a nice DTR(BR is a nice addition :)) assuming OP's priorities are not playing the lastest games...

    BTW, what a KevBen?
