    To All:
from the befuddled mind :( of a total computer newbie, please help. Need guidance re: Raising the RAM in my HP ze4900 notepad from OE 256MB to 512 or better. Do I piggy-back the OE 256 w/a 256 or is it better to go whole-hog 512 replacing the 256. Beyond this, is there a truly helpful 0n-line DIY that'll step me through. All help will be appreciated! :)

Im not farmiliar with that model but do you have two mem slots or one.

If you have one then get the 512 if it has two and ones empty then I recommend you get a 512 and put it in the second slot. 768 is much better them 512 with Windows XP.

If its a matter of price then just get one 256 to fill the empty slot.

If you have the dough, then get the 512MB or if you want to save some money & still get a pretty good speed boost then add another 256 to the existing memory.

But as mwillman explained if you only have one memolry slot then you"ll nedd to replace the OEM 256MB with a 512MB memory module.

The manual should explain how to access the memory slot...

Since memory are pretty affordable now , I suggest you go with the 512mb upgrade to 768mb if you have two slots.
