i had an odd problem - no sound.

The touch 'mute' key would beep on touch, but was permanently orange - and there was no sound coming from my system, not even when using headphones or external speakers. The touch 'Mute' button changed the status of the volume icon on the taskbar to/from mute - but still no sound...

Re-installed all drivers, contacted HP (very helpful online chat service - advised to reinstall said drivers- if this didnt work had to arrange laptop to be shipped off for repair as it must be a hardware problem) - Still no sound.

At the thought of having to post my much needed laptop off for x amount of time when i need it for work - I returned to my old philosophy of 'if i can break it, i can fix it'....

so, i pressed the touch 'mute' button in combination with the other touch bittons for volume control, pressing at the same time/different orders etc, then noticed that the mute button had turned from orange to blue - meaning no longer muted! Tried the sound, and all working... :)

Hope this helps anyone else in a similar situation - saving ££££s on repairs!

Please let me know if this has been helpful, it wont solve everything but sometimes a desperate last attempt is all thats needed :)

    Good Luck
