Opinion on this laptop/ with the amd turion 1.8 X2 ,gig a ram etc.

My concern on this is the nvidia 6150 onboard graphics upgradeable in the future, if you have the need for a dedicated graphics card?

    Any opinions on this one?

Basic rule of thumb, assume laptop video cards are NOT upgradeable...

There is upgrade options that usually boil down to one of these two scenarios...

    1. The notebook is an extremely high end system where the OEM has guaranteed some level of future upgradeblity...
    2. There are other video cards that were offered for your system (for instance Dell usually offers a few video card options for a model) and you want to swap to another card that was offered FOR YOUR MODEL. This model isn't always guaranteed either as you could have that option where the card is soldered to the board...

So as I said, buy it as if you can't upgrade it...

Happy- but I don't know about the graphics. I use for pro audio and it PASSED the first important test. No spikes etc at 64 buffer or sample rate(1ms latency) It has Ricoh combo ship which is supposed to reek havoc on laptops trying to use firewire for audio. TI firewire chipsets are best for firewire. Well we have the Quanta motherboard and maybe that made up for it. I'm getting cpu readings that are equal to core duo. No complaints here...so far.

    Anymore opinions on this?
for 700 shipped seems like a reasonable deal, i dont game on it much, i have a ps3 for that, but it has tobe able to run some graphics and vista.

only issue with the laptop i see besides hp's customer service, is the graphics card, and while i hear the nvidia onboard graphics are better than any others, its still shared memory.

If you're concerned about graphics, spend a little more for the new dv9500z series direct from hp.com and configure the GeForce 8400GS upgrade option. Use the coupon code someone else posted earlier today (30% off $1K+ notebook orders).

if you are ever given the option to get out of integrated graphics TAKE IT. The go 6150 is ok for everyday use but the 8400 is the bare minimum to get into DX10 gaming.
