    Hey Fellas

So I have my eyes set on a well configured dv6000t, and it runs for $1227 shipped (including CA tax and recycling fee). My original plan was to use my interest free for 6months card to pay $750 and pay the rest with my debit card or cash. I did a mock checkout on HP's website but I only saw one place to input one card.

Does anyone know if I can pay using 2 cards? I have done it before, so I thought it was a regular thing on most websites, especially when purchasing of such value.

If they don't let me pay with 2 cards, what are my options? Currently I have a paypal account, an interest free for 6months card w/$750 credit, my regular credit card with $1100 limit.

There isn't anything I can take out of the config and be able to replace it later, so this is the lowest i can get it to....

I would call them...I'm relatively certain that the sales personnel can split the payments up.

Another thought might be to apply for credit through HP. They usually have deals where you can get an entire year interest free.

I have tried this through CC and it has taken too long because i am a student so they have to contact me for further info and to verify stuff, but that process just takes longer for me.

    mtor: is that a fact?

either way im going to give em a call and try to find out for myself. it should save me a headache when i see a good deal come along or just purchase it this weekend

    The answer to our question:

HP does NOT accept any 2 forms of payment.

I called in to see if it can be done via phone purchase, but they don't do that and they never have. The first rep i talked to though, told me it was possible through paypal as long as i had 2 CC's on file. well. i did that. made the purchase through HP and bam. it hit my checking acct.

i immediately called HP and cancelled the order (after 3 attempts, i got hung up on 3 times!! mofos....). then i proceeded to call paypal and my bank to make sure nothing goes through.

so im back to waiting till i get my tax return, which i hope comes soon before the presidents sale is over....

With PayPal, you should have transferred the funds from each card into your PayPal account, and paid that way.

    Edit:

If PayPal won't let you withdrawal from your credit card onto your PayPal account, just go to your bank or whatever, get the amount in cash, then deposit into your bank account, and either pay in full from PayPal via your bank account, or add the funds into PayPal, and pay from there.

^^ doing the "cash advance" way = interested. the reason i wanted to use 2 cards was because one of them (the $750) was interest free till august, with just a monthly minimum (interest free) until august, which is more then enough time for me to pay that part off.

I am not sure the exact way to set this up but what needs to be done is when applying the payment to the purchase you have the option to change the funding source. By default PP wants to set that to your CHECKING. That is because they make more on the transaction that way. So you should just need to change it to a credit card.

The part I am not certain about is how to make the purchase cascade over to two different cards. I am uncertain if you can do this with PP or not. My insticts is no you can't. But it might be possible I just have never run into the need to make it work this way. If I get a chance I will double check the backup funding options for PP and see what I can figure out.

One other way it could be done is to create a personal PP account (or a business/premiere account if you currently have a personal) then send cash to the account you want to use to pay HP. This is a tap dance around the rules but perfectly legal and within the PP rules and regs.

Hope you get this figured out...it's a PITA when these things get complicated but there are usually ways to make it work.

thanks for the lengthy reply, grumpy!

i actually spoke to the PP supervisor today as we were trying to figure out a way around it all, but she said there wasn't any other solution.

its OK cause i'll be purchasing from COSTCO, to get the 180day return period. thanks everyone and let this be here for anyone else who wants to know!

excellent idea! Costco cannot be beat PLUS you can use the AE there...

And thanks for the input about PP. I was pretty sure they would not let ya use two cards. It's a fraud protection thing and the Merchant account agreements actually tell merchants they are not allowed to split payments between muliple cards. Most merchants seem to turn a blind eye to that rule...

Have fun with the new lappy!!
