    Hi,

I know its off the topic, since its not about HP notebook, but this forum is so big if you compare it to Networking forum,so maybe somebody will have an answer. I don't know much about wireless network, and I am looking to buy a wirless router. Help me please. Which wireless rounter is better U.S. Robotics / USR8054 / 108Mbps / 802.11g or D-Link / AirPlus / DI-524 / 54Mbps / 802.11g /, or Netgear Model WGR614? Anyone had experienced any of those?

    thanks

Since your notebook has a Broadcom wireless card, I'd go with the Linksys router that has Broadcom Speedbooster.

What will the speed booster do, USR can support up to 125 mbps? Also, Linkys little bit expensive.

I'm not familiar with the USR router, I don't know what wireless chip it's using.

Newer wireless card drivers are available on the HP support page for your notebook.

Not sure about the others, but I'm extremely happy with my Netgear WGR614 4-port wireless router. $79.99 - $20.00 rebate. It was easy to set up - i'm new to wireless too- and i haven't had any problems at all. no dropped or interupted connection problems; although, i live in new york city and my apartment is small.

    vlk,
If you would like to learn more about the Broadcom family of products (including your HP WiFi adapter), check out www.54g.org. I have a Motorola WR850G (a Performance Enhanced version of this wireless router is available, WR850GP) and would highly recommend it. I have also been pleased with the Linksys WRT54G in my office (SpeedBooster is available on the WRT54GS), though the setup on my Motorola is clearer, in my opinion.

    So, on that web site....

Do all those companies use Broadcom? Motorola, Belkin, Linkys, Microsoft, USR, Buffalo, Airlink?
