I am upgrading my HP Compaq Presario cq56 laptop's processor from a intel celeron T3500 to a now Intel core 2 duo T9300 processor so going from 2.0 to 2.5 same bus speed same socket type but i am not getting any screen on boot up and it shuts down after a few seconds then turns back on with still no screen. Besides the speed what is the difference and is there anything i can do or do i just have another laptop processor that i cant use.

hmm. Then that is tricky. Even thought Intel sometimes release same processors in different branding( core2 dual core etc.) those 2 seems like not. maybe they're just not same when it comes to mobo.
Or Symptoms you're facing seems like processor's transistors are not in contact with the mobo. similar things happen when processor is not held in place. make sure it is.
    Good luck!

The T3500 is designed for the Montevina chip set, the T9300 works with the Santa Rosa chip set. In other words, the T9300 is not compatable with your motherboard. The T4500 is probably the fastest cpu you can put in.

Have you heard of anyone getting the T9300 to work on your model?

Well thank you for the suggestions, i am going to open it up one more time because i think i didn't turn the processor's zif socket to lock it in just sure force of how fast i wanted it done and see from there but if not then putting the original back in sending the new ones back and looking for a new laptop in the future.

The motherboard doesn't support your new chip. Sorry for the bad news, but you can't have a Core 2 replace the Celeron, especially in that model.
