The beeping can be turned off in the BIOS. Hit Escape when you see the HP logo and the BIOS Config will come up.

As for the buttons, there's a program on the HP driver downloads page, HP Quick Launch Buttons, which will configure the button actions. If there are two (I think there might be) then try the other one.

Are you using XP or Vista?

On XP, there's a control panel applet to reconfigure the buttons, that should have showed up after installing the drivers.

On Vista, there's unfortunately no mechanism to reassign the buttons.

That's odd. Is there a Quickplay applet in your control panel?

That explains why i can't change mine. People were telling me it's in the control panel etc yet its not even there i guess because i have Vista. That's lametastic. doesn't even make sense considering the buttons still work. ugh...

The Quick Play and Quick launch are different. The QuickPlay is the feature that lets you play DVDs even without starting Windows, you can use the application in Windows as well. But the Quick launch buttons are the button that are available at the top of the function keys. The include the Quick play music and DVD buttons. In the control panel, you should be able to change the application assigned to the Quickplay music and DVD.
