Quickplay 3.0 has gotten so feature rich(Camera Support, Digital/Analog Tuner Support, Network Support) and it was designed to work with Vista Only and I don't think Vista Embedded has been released yet. Quickplay 2.0(Separate Partition Version) ran under Windows XP Embedded, Quickplay 1.0 (Separate Partition Version) used Linux.

I've heard unconfirmed reports that you can get QuickPlay DirectPlay (2.3) working with Vista, but you will need to assign your unpartitioned space for DirectPlay (1028MB) the drive letter X.
The problem has to do with Vista not allowing the DirectPlay installer to convert the unpartitioned space. It's the same thing that prevents PartitionMagic8 from functioning properly in Vista.
I'm not sure if it works or not, but if you want to be the first to try and confirm it, please go ahead! You can find the link to the DirectPlay installer files in my signature. -
quickplay directplay 2.3 does not work in vista. ive tried it already, it will just destroy your vista bootsector.. even vista wont start if you do that

What if you installed DirectPlay before Vista? Will Vista play nicely then? Of course, you would need a Windows environment to use the installer. BartPE maybe?

thank you very much

Are you guys saying that if you get Quickplay 2.x installed to a seperate partition, that when the computer is off, hitting one of the quickplay buttons the laptop will know to boot up into the Quickplay partition?
-
Yes. There are two different QuickPlay editions- QuickPlay for Windows (QPW) and QuickPlay DirectPlay (QPDP). QPDP is essentially QPW put into a stripped down version of Windows XP (with all your notebooks drivers) on a separate partition. Because it's stripped down, it starts a bit faster than booting regular Windows and then launching QPW.
Version 1 of QPDP was Linux based. Version 2 is XP based. Version 3, if they end up releasing it, will likely be Vista based.
To use QPDP 2.x with Vista, you can try installing it in BartPE (cd bootable version of XP). As it was mentioned before, Vista doesn't play friendly with the QPDP installer.
