Hi all,
My dv6000 power jack is malfunctioning... even though my laptop is covered under warranty, I'm not going to send it to HP for repair. I've heard too many horror stories...
Will getting the Quickdock fix my problems? I know the dock charges through expansion port 3 - will long-term charging like this harm my computer? My plan is to use the quickdock to charge through port 3 until I get a new laptop.
Also, does the Quickdock use the same AC power cable as the standard laptop cable?
Thanks.

Yes, the quickdock does use the same AC adapter as the laptop and I don't believe that doing any long term charging this way would have any harm to the laptop or the battery. It is essentially the same as having your AC adapter plugged in. Just as a side note, this setup does work fine as I've been doing this for about 3 months now with a dv9700. No issues whatsoever so far.

The QuickDock will charge (and do everything except HDMI and FireWire thru one cable). It's really convienient, so much that I just bought two of them (for $60 ea (and two adapters for $40) from here and was completely satisfied (I found 'em thru "froogle.google.com")).

Using the quickdock as the power source is fine, ive been doing it for a long while now. I rarely use my real power jack.
Its a very handy all-in-one solution.
