    Hi, I had a HP dv 2700 and Am facing this problem on Quickplay. The Quickplay and DVD buttons on the top of the keyboard doesn't work. All other buttons like mute, play, stop work good. Even the Media Centre button and Quickplay button on my remote doesn't function. I uninstalled my Quickplay and reinstalled the drivers but is of no help.

    Any help is appreciated looking forward for a reply.

    Quick Play button drivers are responsible for those

    Re-install it. It should be called QLB in the SwSetup folder

    Even if you want to install Quickplay, it wont install the complete package. On unsupported systems the installer will only install the DVD play which basically only enables you to play DVD's. Plus Quickplay direct wont even install on your system since the Windows XP embedded package does not contain the drivers for any dvx5xx and newer model notebooks.

    By chance would you know why on a SUPPORTED system the installer only installs DVD Play? When I updated from QP Ver 3.63 to 3.7 only DVD Play got installed. Re-Installing QP 3.63 from the HP Driver site for my notebook or from the recovery partition still yields only DVD Play. I read on the HP forum others who have had the same problem as I when updating and are only left with DVD Play. The only solution seems to be a complete restore to factory from the recovery disks. I am not willing to do that at this time.

    Sorry, cant be of much help in that area. No idea on whay it would initially tag the system as being not Quickplay capable. However I would suspect that a registry entry or a rogue file on the system leads to this problem recurring every time you try to install. The reformat ofcourse takes care of this issue. But if you can find find the registry entry/file that may solve the problem.

    I found the answer to my quoted problem so I thought I would post the solution as it may help someone else. A registry entry needed to be added for the install to work correctly. After following the instructions below, re-install HP Quickplay from either a download from the support driver site for your laptop or from the QPW directory within SWSETUP on your notebook.

    To force install the QPW Program (HP QuickPlay) you need to create the following registry key:

    1. START then RUN and type "regedit" into the box (without quotes)
    2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\QPFlag (you may have to create the QPFlag directory)
    3. If you need to create the QPFlag directory: Right Click on SOFTWARE, from the pulldown menu, click Edit-->New-->Key, name it as QPFlag.
    4. Right Click QPFlag, from the pulldown menu, click Edit-->New-->DWORD Value, name it as QPFlag (again)
    5. Double click the new QPFlag DWORD value and type 3 in value data (Base is Hexadecimal), Click OK.
    6. Again Right click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\QPFlag, select New->String, enter Value name as "@=" (no quotes)
    7. Exit Regedit

    The QuickPlay software can now be installed on your machine.

    Credit goes to Mike Lord - HP’s bussiness support forum in this thread “Downgrading a 6768 Special Edition to XP”

    Edit: Automated Registry Entry Method

    Copy the following into notepad and save it to a filename such as QuickPlayFix.reg then click on it and run it. You can save it to your desktop if you wish. It will make the registry entries for you.

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\QPFlag]
    "QPFlag"=dword:00000003
    "@="=""

    While we're discussing quickplay problems here....

    I just downloaded 3.7 and Im a little annoyed.

    I'm trying to change the setting, but there's no options. And the help menue is directing me a settings list that doesn't exist. Either that or I'm mis understanding but I don't think I am.

    It's like menue has changed, but the help menue hasn't been updated, and now I can't find any of the options I want- if they're even there.... like changing skins, being able to direct saved videos and snapshots to other folders, etc.

    I want 3.6 back. Either that, or some direct help using 3.7.

    Any ideas here?

    I don't know why QuickPlay 3.0 says it's not for Vista, it is Vista only. I have QuickPlay 3.6 installed on my laptop, you can get it here today.

    Since I am posting I might as well provide an update to my manual registry modification to get QuickPlay to install. The following does the same thing but is automatic.

    Copy the following into notepad and save it to a filename such as QuickPlayFix.reg then click on it and run it. You can save it to your desktop if you wish. It will make the registry entries for you.

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\QPFlag]
    "QPFlag"=dword:00000003
    "@="=""
