Amazing how even now, there is still much confusion about the radiance screen. No one really seems to have or be able to give straight answers.....
This radiance screen is a really rare, mysterious thing. Those who own one can better appreciate what the fuss is all about. ;) Sadly, I'm not one of those folks who own one. Lol.

It was made by LG. A similar screen is in the new MBA.

My theory is that apple bought up all the supplies for the new 14.5" mbp.

The screens are made by TMDisplay, only the BV's are LG-Philips. I contacted TMDisplay and they claim to have never made a 1600x900 14.5' screen, but the back of the screen clearly states that it's a toshiba display....

??? is "TM Displays" a Toshiba brand?

Regardless of the folklore, HP is clearly trying for now to be mum on how many Radiance displays they have in stock. I got an order processed for the display at the parts store, but the delivery date says 2/23 while I received a call saying it would be March. The same up and down info has come out of the Service Depot, which has my new E14 w defective Radiance.

It's really getting to be time to write the IT media

eafd, so if Toshiba really made the radiance screens why would they lie about it then? Why does HP state that the company who made them is out of business?

Seriously, this mystery is insane....denials, misinformation...wow! I think it borderlines on hilarity. :D Although I would not laugh since so many have been burned by this mess.

Maybe the company that made the Radiance screens was a subsidiary of Toshiba and Toshiba dissolved the company of some reason, but the screens were labelled as a Toshiba product. Just a thought.

Yeah, it would make sense if a subsidiary of TM made the screens...

It is also weird that Toshiba themselves aren't using the Radiance in their laptop lines. It must be a HP and Toshiba back-room deal to demise the company involved with Radiance? HP must of offered huge sums of money to Toshiba to make the manufacturer to produce exclusive screens for HP for a while until their back-room contract fell though?

    Urrgh. Corporations...
