    Hi all!

My DV6 (see in sig) has an AMD Turion Ultra in it and everybody knows that they run real warm, even when I use HP recommended "power setting".

Anyway, undervolting is an option, there is a few free apps that can help doing it. BUT!
My Laptop is only 6 months old, so it's under warranty.
I contacted HP and they seem willing to initiate an RMA.
My Lappy's CPU runs at around 90 degrees celsius after 5 minutes of gaming (COD5). Running 3DMARKS06 has the same effect...89-92 celsius, USING a laptop cooler, and there is NO dust whatsoever on the fins/exhaust/intake vents...
I know I could open it, reapply thermal paste (I have some Arctic Cooling MX2 laying around)..

My point is...because it's under warranty, is is worth it to send it back? Will they do anything to it?
Can they fix it, or they'll just try doing so and end up scratching it /damaging it?
Could they exchange it for something else?

Please share your experiences, so I can make my mind on whether I send it in for servicing, or it's useless/pointless?

    Thanks for your time!!!!!

take clear pictures of it (to show that it is not damaged when you send it in) and send it in

You should undervolt it with K10stat. I was getting about 90C as well before undervolting but now the max is 76-77C. Link

    I'll definately look into it.

What application was causing your CPU to reach 90?
And how much of a downvolt to you need to reach those lower temps?
Is there a LOT of fiddling (trial and errors, BSOD) around to find the swetspots?

It only went up to 93C while stressing it with Orthos. Under normal use, 60C was the max even on a hot day.

My voltages are in the link in my signature and I just set them that low the first time and they are stable. I tried to go slightly lower for P-State 0 but 1.05 is as low as it goes.

I'm trying K10 stat right now, dropping the voltage to the next available ste-down.
I'm running 3Dmarks06 again, cause it's my reference.

If I find my stable voltages, I could set it as a task. Meanwhile HP sends me the shipping box/adress tag and stuff. They're fast for that part!

Ok, the temps are dropping, mostly idle temps, and during light use. If I run 3Dmarks06, I get a 3-4 Degrees celsius drop, which is decent, regarding the fact that real gaming probably stresses the computer less than the benchmark.

    ABADDON4180, really nice review!!!
