Bonehead maneuver of all time! In the midst of the worst economic crisis any of us has seen in our lifetimes, HP has decided to introduce more choices (more confusion) and .....drumroll please. HP has raised the prices on virtually every unit.

Not sure what marketing at HP is thinking but they lost me. Probably for good.

I had narrowed my search down to the HDX16t or an ASUS N50. Considering that the HDX16t with the same configuration as last week now costs $1900 I think I know which way I will be going.

I would expect a huge sale from HP in the coming weeks. 40%-50% off of the new pricing is about the same as you could have bought a few weeks ago.

Good luck HP, I don't think that you are going to find people are quite as stupid as you think they are.

This is pretty much normal during new HP product launches. After a few weeks the prices should scale back some.

Poor time of year and economic climate to be doing "normal" price increases tied to new product launches.

They would have to scale back prices considerably to be comparable to competitors. I suspect that this will not be well received.

I agree HP will lower prices in a week or two as well probably put out some coupons. New products always start at high prices.

true but most likely the 30-40 percent coupons will be out during the price spike.

i wanted to buy the HDx16t, and now its going to cost 500$ extra than what i was going to pay 2 weeks ago.

Smart move, pay like 200$ more and i can get a good Alienware M17 which would blow the HDx16t.

I paid 1250 for mine after the 500 coupon when it had just been released. I had to call to get my coupon because it had already been used 500 times. Just made the same config now, but the T9600 was not available, and instead with the T9400 it came out to 1750, same price >.> I wouldn't buy it without a 30% or 400-500 coupon.

HP plans to get rid of the flouresent tube screens and go to LED screens exclusively. Perhaps there will be some bargains on these.

cosign. i pity the sucker that pays north of 2 g's for a max'd out laptop when, if you simply wait for a coupon to come out, it will save you hundreds of dollars.

my $2279 dv7t came out to $1585 after the 30% coupon. then for about $120 or so, i bought another 320gb hd and disk caddy.

i also bought a logitech z5500 surround sound system, an external 750gb drive and tons of other things i needed with the $ i saved.
