Whenever we get bad experience from a vendor, we always voice out complaints in forums like this one. Hopefully it will help others to avoid the same problems. At the same time, whenever a company does good, we should give them credit and let others know.

I ordered my Compaq R300T on April 30th. It arrived May 10th. After a few days of deciding should I keep it, I opened the box amd mail the rebate forms on May 15th. I also submitted the info online to start the paperwork on their end. The form said it will take 8 weeks to process and to call if I do not receive the rebate check by the 10th week. So here I am expecting the worse, I will get the check in 2 1/2 months from now.

Well, I like to report I just got the check yesterday on the 8th of June. That took less than 4 weeks from the day I mailed the paperwork. That's $100.00 I don't have to worry about and bring my actual cost to 699.00 plus tax only (67.00) and free shipping.

Now I don't know if this is the normal processing time, but kudos to HP. I know for a lot of us that rebate check is always the deciding factor and we always worry if the rebate paperwork get lost in the mail or something.

You're lucky. They rejected my rebate application because they didn't put the serial # on the huge sheet of barcodes I cut out from the box and sent them (build-to-order HP notebook). I resubmitted the rebate as they requested, haven't heard back yet. At least one other person has had the same problem. Best Buy didn't give me any trouble on their rebate, I received that fairly quickly (THAT company knows how to handle rebates, though I'd prefer if they all would just sell me stuff at the proper price to begin with).

I was lucky. Mine was a custom built order from Staples.com. The shipper Fedex put their shipping label over the UPC Sticker. I had a difficult time removing the shipping label without damaging the UPC Sticker.

I had a good rebate experience from HP as well. I bought my zx5000 through CostCo online. Sent the paperwork into HP just a few days after receivng my computer. I was surprised how quickly I got the $100 check back in the mail. It took just over three weeks to arrive!
