You should have the recovery partition after that you can create your disks as many times u want.

for creating hp recover disk as many time as you want you need to do the following

in windows explorer goto Folder Options by Pressing Tools(Menu) - > Folder Options

    then Click to View Tab.

AT Hidden files and folder select show all files and below that also uncheck Hide Protected Operating system files.

Now goto D Drive and Delete the following file

    HPCD.sys

also check the C Drive and 'C:\windows\SMINST' folder thats it now you can create the disk set again.

Why you need this ? not every one need this only those, where first burn out was gone bad, didn't receive the original OS cd and who wish not to keep the recovery partition.

I have no idea of compaq if it is the same as HP you may try.

Yes you should be able to. For that matter you can copy the anytime upgrade discs or any MS OS disc. Its against MS agreement to do so but its possible. MS has never used disc protection that I am aware of. They use online authentication/activation instead. The bottom line is MS really does not care what you use to install as long as you have a legit key bound to your system. HP is more anal then MS for some reason. You can do a clean install with your oem key or with the key on the sticker. Either way MS does not care. But HP does. They do not want you do do a clean install because of the BS about how the ad driven bloatware helps subsidize the laptop bla bla bla. But I don't understand at all about only allowing one copy to be burned from the recovery partition. Best thing is to just make a few copies of the recovery discs and then delete the partition. But then again, if your optical drive fails you can still reload the OS from the partition.
