So, I found another thread on this but it didn't help much. Instead of raising it from the dead, I decided to make a new one. Is there anyway to make my remote work with VLC?
I like to use WMP, because the remote works perfectly with it[I wonder why. >.<], but sometimes files don't play when I have subtitles, even though I have ever codec I need out there. Stupid WMP.
I found a way to change the hotkeys in VLC, but even though I changed them, they still don't work with the remote. Anything to solve any of the problems?

I think those remotes only work with certain software.

I have never gotten any hotkeys to work with vlc, so I would say a remote would not either, but I do not have one to try. I have tried on numerous builds and rigs to get their hotkeys and shortcuts to work to no avail.

Ah I see. Oh well, I guess I'll keep using the space bar for play and pause and stuff.
Thanks guys. -
Sorry for a double post, but I actually changed the hotkeys, and once I restarted my computer the remote started working with VLC. Hah, so it is possible.

I'm sure the hotkeys could work in any program, since they're supported in Linux for me, and I can configure them to do anything I want. I don't know how much you can configure it in Windows right now, but I'm sure there's software out there to add that functionality.

vobsub is a program that loads subtitles with WMP running not sure if it works with WMC tho.
Edit: it works with WMC -
Yeah, I used VobSub, but some files weren't loading when they had subtitles. The files were .avi btw. Idk what was wrong with it, it was all very weird.
I'm done with WMP though, VLC ftw now. Haha.
