I bought my DV3 just less than a year ago. Recently there has been some problems with overheating and the fan always spinning at maximum has been a problem since shortly after I purchased it.

Anyways, I called the 24/7 line and got them to send me a box to send it in for repair. How much of a issue was with all the DV3 having overheating issues? was it a small fix or were there many cases in a replacement computer?

Also, should I delete all my non legit files and applications? Believe or not, this is actually my the first "sending in" a laptop for repair.

What are the chances that this isn't their problem and my overheating (shutting down), and fan issues come back the way they are?

*As for the problems, the overheating issues occurs at even minimal tasks. To be honest, if I was trying to run heavy applications or games, I would understand this problem. However, the computer overheats and shuts down at even watching youtube videos while using a chatting client.

When you send in a notebook to HP, they almost invariably reformat your HDD and restore it back to factory original. So if there's anything on it that you need, back up before sending it in.
