How can i order my FREE skin ?
-
I KNEW I wasn't the only that experienced this. Mine was delivered on Feb. 18....I have a solution and the long version and short version are:
LONG VERSION
I Emailed hp.skinit.com's customer service and explained my delivery date, that I had a screenshot saying I would get the skin and I could provide them with this and my order info. They wrote back and said it was expired. I wrote back again and politely told them that wasn't acceptable since this offer was promised and I received no paperwork saying there was a deadline to get a pin. I didn't even receive any documentation saying I would get a free skin. All I had was the screenshot from HPShopping's order page.
The reply I got was the exact same reply I had gotten before. They said the offer expired March 7. Well, I had written them March 7 and they didn't write me back until March 10. But I digress...
I picked up the phone and called their customer service since Email customer service obviously wasn't reading my Email. They told me to call HP. HP or HPShopping where I ordered the laptop from, I asked. They said the main HP #, not HPShopping.
Talked to one person that said no problem and to tell the next person he transferred me to and that I would be taken care of. After half an hour on the phone with the second person, holding forever and multiple times while he "checked" on it, he finally came back to the line and said he couldn't help and to call HPShopping.
Called HPShopping to explain my running around on the phone that I'd now been doing for over an hour and the lady asks, right after I say I've already contacted hpskinit, "Have you called hpskinit?" Umm, yeah.
Put on hold forever but she comes back and says, yes the offer has expired but that I did purchase the laptop when the offer was running. (Yeah I know!) Then she asks how much the skin is that I wanted to get. $34.95, I say. She says she sees that they are offering a free shipping offer if you spend $40 or more...
SHORT VERSION
HPShopping customer service lady says, "I'll give you a $40 credit on the credit card you used to purchase the laptop and that way you can buy the skin you want." So I got the $40 on my card. I just called Monday, if that helps.
Start with HPShopping customer service. Skinit was zero help and gave me the brush off. -
email them
-
When did u call them ? Because i emailed them last night.Did they refund because you write them on expiry date..?
-
I Emailed skinit's customer service Friday. They didn't reply until Monday. Wrote them again when I got their Email Monday, got the exact same reply a couple of hours later. Around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, I called skinit customer service. They were NO help at all.
After being given the runaround, it was HPShopping's customer service that gave me the refund since I had purchased the laptop through them. I called them Monday as well.
Skinit did not give me a refund but HPShopping did. By the time I explained the whole ordeal to HPShopping, I forgot to even mention that I had written skinit on the day they said the promotion expired.
So HPShopping didn't even know I Emailed skinit on that date because skinit and HPshopping are basically two different companies. HPShopping gave me the refund because I, like you, bought the laptop when the offer was promised. It's not our fault that the dang thing expired. I didn't even receive any documentation on where to go to get the free skin, let alone that their was an expiration date. I suspect the same thing happened to you.
You're entitled to the same thing I was. My refund has already posted to my credit card and by the time I got everything sorted out Monday afternoon, it was past 5 p.m. -
Thanks a lot for your detailed info. I too emailed the HP sales at [email protected]. They ask me contact HP skinit , BUT I told them that they are not responding and HP alone promised me FREE skin . So im insisiting them to give a free coupon code/pincode with FREE skin with free shipping/delivery.Waiting for tehir reply.

Update:
I called the HP customer service i fight with them for nearly 45 mins...but of no use..the fellow told me that the offer is expired and i can no more avail this offer...even when i ask refund he said a new cluase that i have to use it within 21 days..( eventhough i told him that this was never mentioned anywhere)...any ..i fed up of that....
Just looking for some coupon codes atleast to order my skinit...becaz..i did prepare a nice pciture of jy daughter in adobe and waiting to order..
any skinit.com coupon codes available currently...? -
Order one if you have the money. It surely isn't that costly if that skin matters that much to you. Besides no coupon will work now as the Site clearly states that it has expired. Frankly I am quite envious of you guys looking at the dirt cheap prices that you get all this stuff(Laptops, Accessories etcetera) for compared to where I live!

Did you purchase from HPShopping.com? I'm assuming yes since you were offered the free skin. If so, did you call HPShopping's customer service (not HP)?

That's the # I called at HPShopping and the first (and only) person I talked to through HPShopping credited my account. I didn't even ask for a refund. Like you, all I wanted was a pin so I could order the skin HP promised. I didn't even know a credit to my credit card was an option!
You're not asking for a refund for your computer so that 21 day crap they're trying to hand you is nonsense. You bought the computer fair and square while they were offering this. You didn't purchase this computer *after* the offer disappeared from HPShopping's Web site.
Like I told them, I'm entitled to this offer because it was on the HPShopping "offers" page when I ordered my laptop. "I'm just trying to get the offer HP promised me," were my exact words.
There's no reason for you to pay $34.95 for a skin + shipping when you were promised a free one. *Especially* since your laptop arrived one day after mine did and I just called this past Monday and got a $40 credit to my credit card from HPShopping.
When I called, I told them skinit sent me to HP, HP sent me to HPShopping and here I was just trying to get a pin for the free skin.
My situation is no different than yours. Sure, it's "only" $34.95 but in my book, that's a lot of money for you to have to pay when you were told you'd get a free one. That's why I pursued it even though I got the runaround. I finally got a resolution and not spending $40 on a skin, getting a free one instead is worth it to me. -
Yes...i purchased thri HP online store.( HP shopping)
Yes.. i called the same number..first customer service fellow talked to me then..sales..again Customer service guy. The last guy didnt even know about the skin iteself...it took 20 mins to understand what skin im referrering to. His only answer throughtout our conversation is "OFFER EXPIRED". May be this guy is not really helping...i will try again today. -
In the phone menu when you call, I chose the one that is something like "order status" or "to check on an order." At HPShopping, I only had to talk to one person and it was the person who answered through that menu option. I'm really sorry you're having trouble with this. I thought mine was an ordeal with having called skinit, the main HP line and then HPShopping.
This shouldn't be so hard for them. You bought the laptop before the offer expired. I'm sure you and I aren't the only two people in the U.S. who had this problem.
Mine was resolved and it's just plain wrong for them not to fix this for you too.
Be sure to tell them how many phone calls you've had to make to get the offer HP promised!
