I have a dv2000t that was purchased this past august. I've installed vista and aside from the usual sound issues, everything works well. I was in best buy the other day and noticed that new dv2000's that have vista preinstalled have an hp total care software suite. Is this software package (and any other software hp distributes) available? I didn't see it on the hp website.

    Thanks,
    Troy

Thanks for the link. When I install the hp help and support for vista apps, it doesn't add any start menu items....any suggestions?

You will need to go into regular Help to view the HP Help & Assistance Center.

The Help and Support incorporated in the latest HP Pavilion notebook preinstalled with Vista have something new known as HP Total Care Advisor. It features many tools that can be used for diagnostics. The bad news is that the download is not available. Even in the OEM units, if this is uninstalled the only option left is to restore the system to the factory settings.

    Olay, here's the deal:

HP Total Care Advisor is not available from HP, and no installer has been found.

One of our forum members, chiaroscurist, ripped the directory that it is installed into, however, and that seems to work if you have the prerequisite files installed.

    So, first you need:

    Either -
HP Help and Support for Microsoft Vista (32-bit Editions): here

    or

HP Help and Support for Microsoft Vista (64-bit Editions): here

    And you'll need:

    HP Active Support Library: here

Then, you can grab the HP Total Care files from: here and extract them to your program files directory and run the program from there.

    Hope that helps.
