I am in the market for a new PC and I recently visited my local Best Buy. I found the 13 inch to be bit smaller than I wanted so now I am shopping 15 inch laptops. I compared the 13.3 inch Spectre x360 and Yogo 900. They had 2 HP Spectre 360 13. Inch in 1080P and 4K screen resolution model side by side The 1080P screen resolution was noticeably brighter. I checked all the settings and made sure the brightness was all the way up for both units. I searched it and found this as similar complaint with this model by other users.

    1) Now the 15 inch model is new for this year and my question is how do the 2 screen compare side by side? As the price difference is very small (+$60) so I was leaning toward 4K but wanted the screen to be as bright at the 1080.

    2) Next question is if Intel Iris is worth the extra $140 ?

    3) should I go with 8Gb or 16Gb ? Can ram be easily added down the road if wanted or is soldered on and upgradable?

    4) Since the laptop is fairly new when can we see some deals or prices come down for the 15 inch model.

Bump purchased an Open box one from Best buy 4K model. The screen is bright enough for me. The screen quality is excellent but quite annoyed with scaling issues with MS when trying to remote desktop to other servers and PC's (I do for work). The build quality is excellent and love the feel of all metal vs plastic.

Did you get a 13 or 15? I'm guessing the 13 as the 15 hasn't been out long enough for open boxes unless you got way lucky. I did the same thing you did comparing the 1080p and 4k displays. I think it comes down to battery life... it takes more power to drive a 4k display than a 1080p display and the panel / backlight used for 4k likely wasn't as bright but fit their power profile to keep the battery life the way they wanted it.

The spectre is on my short list... thinking 13" might be a little on the small side for real work though. I remote like you do, program and work in VMs. How do you like the battery life on your 4k model?
