Whenever there is a certain frequency or some other factor, my DV7Tse's subwoofer lets out an annoying crackling sound.
I can't find any settings for the subwoofer.
It seems as though HP is treating the subwoofer as a regular speaker, when only lower frequencies should be played by a subwoofer.
Does anybody else have this issue? Does anybody know a way to fix it?
Thank you in advance.

I don't have your unit but are you using an EQ on the laptop...if not you might want to download a player that includes one, though I remember WMP having a built in EQ that I used awhile back...
I think it went down to 40 or 60hz though I have no clue if the sub on your laptop has a crossover wired in somehow or even a small capacitor... -
I have the same problem. It only happens during certain songs, when there is a certain frquency usually high. The sub goes down to 70Hz, but not lower due to it's small size.
I tried to fix this with the eq (in the beats audio control panel), but nothing helped.
I think the only way is to RMA it. But im scared of HP dammaging the laptop during the RMA. -
From what you're describing, there's a good chance the driver is blown. This is typically a result of playing it too loud (or from music with a high dynamic range). But without hearing it in person, there's no way tell for sure. If this is the case, however, there's no fix for it. You have to replace the driver.
