I couldn't burn the recovery disks because I didn't have enough CD-R's. I tried to use the recovery partition when my computer crashed, and it seemed to finish alright, so I tried to boot Windows, and I got a boot error. I tried to restore about 5 times with the same unhelpful result. I then called HP and they seemed to understand my problem and they said that because I couldn't use the recovery partition, they would send the recovery CDs for free. I was pleased when the DVD arrived 6 days early. I popped it in, hoping for a full recovery of drivers and whatnot, and it gave me an error: "These Recovery CDs are NOT supported on this PC Model." I then called HP again, and after being intermittently on hold for half an hour, the CS Rep told me that for my dv2000, I would have to pay $20 for the recovery CDs. So now I'm left with a semi-OK laptop, a bad mindset for HP, and a useless recovery CD.
    Any ideas?

what model do you have? Did you erase the recovery partition after you made the recovery discs?

perhaps then you should not have deleted the recovery partition until all was working.

You are probably screwed since you erased the recovery partition unless you buy the cds.

    Good luck though.
