Oh, that was a quite a few 'S'...

Anyway. Short story, I'm a university student who are just about to start my last years of masters, and a few weeks ago I told myself that I wouldn't buy a computer until I'm finished and has got a job.
But then HP had a Summer Sale for students and for example offered a decent Envy 14 for a good price (and later I also discovered a decent Pavillion dv6[tqe] for the same price).

I have been thinking about it for a while now but can't really decide if its worth it to buy one of these computers, and have therefore decided to ask the masters, you =)

Here is the two computers in question: HP Store Sverige (Sorry for being in Swedish, but the specs should be OK).
Both of them are currently ~$1000, which is quite cheap as the normal prices are ~$1550 for the Envy and ~$1250 for the Pavillion (yeah, Swedish prices sucks).

And for the use of the computer: Light DSLR-picture editing (on a external 1080p IPS monitor), some gaming (Portal 2, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Star Craft 2) and schoolwork (from word processing to running matlab and the likes).
I also wish it to be somewhat future"proof" when it comes to the non-GPU parts (my current computer is 4 years old and still doing most things fine for example).

TLDR;I can get a non radiance Envy 14 or a 768p-dv6tqe for ~$1000 compared to the usual prices of ~$1550 or ~$1250.
Is it worth the money or should I wait a year until I get more money and buy something better?

(Oh, and I like build quality and even though I would like portability I have a HP 5101 that I carry along most of the time and probably will continue with, although it doesn't run matlab and the likes very well ;) ).
