It seems HP is now offering Vista on all models of their consumer lines. I had suspected they'd wait until the 30th, but I guess not. Odd though, it seems for now they are not offering the 64-bit versions of Vista.

It seems they're also offering the 'Intel(R) Pentium(R) dual core T2060(1.6GHz/1MB L2).' Hadn't heard of that model before. Interesting.

Oh, and the nVidia GeForce Go 7200 is back on the dv2000t model.

I feel sorry for those who were planning on getting a new computer, abit with XP on it, but waited until it was too late.

    ;)

It's still listed as an option under the dv6000t...?

The nVidia GeForce Go 7400 was never in question or and was always available (on the dv6000t) during the time the nVidia GeForce Go 7200 was not listed for the dv2000t.

Pricing out the same configuration I just ordered 5 days ago ( with XP media) now comes in at about $300 more. The two big differences are a free upgrade to 120GB ( from the 80 I ordered) and the TV tuner is now Vista configured and brings in digital as well as analog.

All HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario (consumer series) notebooks are now available in CTO configurations from HP. XP is no longer available. As expected by many, only the 32-bit versions of Vista seem to be offered on the consumer models. Users can also choose between Home Basic, Home Premium (+ $35), or Business (+ $75). The base models of all systems have been updated to 512 MB RAM in order to run Vista, and HP requires that you get at least 1 GB RAM if you choose Vista Home Premium.

Currently, HP has only posted Vista-certified drivers for their Quick Launch buttons. But, as their expected ship date on new systems is Feb. 6, the drivers must either be ready (or very, very close) so they should be posted soon.

Also, several systems have new configuration options (dv2000t Nvidia option is back!) and Office 2007 is available as a preinstalled productivity option.

For those who've been waiting, enjoy.

That's a good sign. The most significant change I just saw on the CTO page is the addition of an option to get one 6-cell and one 12-cell. About freakin' time...

nothing is really "free upgrade" with HP stuff. Where one price drops another price goes up. Its all a numbers game with custom ordering HP lappies.

I sure feel like an idiot. I wanted a dv9000t with XP Media. Figured I had until the end of the month to order. Guess not. That's doesn't bother me much. What does bother me is the price hike in options. Options are $20-$75 more than they were with XP. Figures.....

Looking at the custom optios for the dv9000t I see the following changes which kind of piss me off a bit.

4 Processor options instead of 6 compare to before
Now cost $149 to upgrade to the 7600 with 512MB. Before this was $125
    Upgrade to 2GB memory $225. Before...$210
and the base price for all systems have gone up $50

i just bought mine not too long ago, i tried to cancel it and buy it again with vista pre-installed. I put in the same specs as i had with the one i ordered not too long ago, and it seems to be about $70 cheaper including the fact that the $50 mail in rebate is no longer available. I asked them if i could cancel the order, and they said that theres a 50/50 change of me being able to cancel it... pretty stupid. So i just ended up not canceling it, and going with what i had previously ordered. At least i get the free upgrade mailed to me... :/

If yours is still in production and not shipped, it may be shipped with vista installed, never know until you receive it.

I had absolutely no need for a tv tuner, so pricing the specs without it came in cheaper. They do have crazy pricing that changes too often. I just received mine Monday, and called to see if they'll sell me the vista recovery disk, but no go. I ended up getting an rma number to return it, and it's due to be picked up at their expense next week. At the same time, ordered a new dv9000t with vista, same config less the tv tuner, and is scheduled to be shipped from China on Feb 6. Based on my last experience, it should arrive by Feb. 5 or earlier, so I'll do with one of my family laptop for a few days. Also, I don't have to deal with waiting for $50 rebate that will take 8 to 12 weeks and waiting for vista upgrade that will probably be mailed between March and May. I can enjoy the new system in about a week or so. My choice.

yeah i dont need the tv tuner either, i would return it if i could and buy one with vista alreayd installed

and yeah right now im forced to use my step dads crappy laptop with 128 mb of ram, i have been using it like my whole life, and i am forced to use safe mode every time i go on it... so when i get my new computer, i know i will be blown away! i cant wait! i think ill cry! :D

OF COURSE! I knew this was going to happen... they DID put the GO7200 back in the DV2000t, but they also jacked the prices up like CRAZY now that VISTA is out (er going to be "officially" out on 1/30). I cannot customize a notebook on HP (particulary the 2000t) for an less than $1100 now where just on Friday I could get one for about $875. UGH! I am so frustrated! AND I cannot find any coupons to get this price down at all. I am really thinking now of going to the store to buy my notebook rather than buying it online.
I was in Best Buy today and I saw this for only $799.11...

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...ategoryId=pcmcat103700050014&id=1166236071820

... They could not sell it to me until Tuesday though as VISTA is already installed in it and they can't release it until 1/30 per Microsoft. It's a 15" and an AMD processor and only has the 6150 graphics card, but it beats paying $300 more for just a smaller screen, a little better graphics card and an Intel processor. Any thoughts on this?...

I also just saw this on their website...

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...ategoryId=pcmcat103700050013&id=1166236071888

    AND this...

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...ategoryId=pcmcat103700050014&id=1166840116290

I can also customize a Compaq V3000z for about $900 and a DELL E1505 for about $950 with about the same specs as the above lappys. The DELL is tempting because it has a way beter graphics card in it- the ATI X1400. I am just so tired of researching and waiting... now I just want to buy. What should I do?...
